Calcium Catalysis
Most of the earlier work of our group revolved around the development of calcium salts as new, early main group metal based Lewis acidic catalysts. We were able to introduce the first easy to handle calcium catalyst into the area of synthetic organic chemistry. It was found to be particularly effective for Lewis acid catalyzed dehydroxylation reactions. A broad range of applications have been demonstrated by us and other groups.
